Book Recommendations
Books I've read that have been meaningful and what I am currently reading.
This year has been very good in the reading department. I’ve read more books than I usually read in one year. Most of this reading is done on my phone. I tried reading physical books but the reading is much slower. When I feel in the mood to read, I read. Other times I just can’t focus on reading and I don’t try to force it. At times I have multiple books going, I think this is one of the reasons why I’ve been able to read more books this year.
Some of the books I recently finished that were very impactful are:
Plant Intelligence and the Imaginal Real by Stephen Harrod Buhner
Care of the Soul by Thomas Moore
The Spirituality of Imperfection by Ernest Kurtz and Katherine Ketcham
The Baby on the Fire Escape: Creativity, Motherhood, and the Mind-Baby Problem by Julie Phillips
How To Keep House While Drowning: a gentle approach to cleaning and organizing by KC Davis, LPC
Entering Hekate’s Cave: The Journey Through Darkness to Wholeness by Cyndi Brannen.
I want to keep a reading journal where I jot down the thoughts and ideas I’m getting from the books. Because I mostly read on my phone or listen to audiobooks, I am not able to annotate them. I do love the highlighting feature on Libby and I love that I can export my highlights even after I have finished reading and returned the book.
I’m currently reading/listening to:
The Dream and the Underworld by James Hillman available through Open Library.
The World is Sound: Nada Brahama by Joachim Ernst Berendt also available through Open Library.
The Secret Teachings of Plants by Stephen Harrod Buhner
Sacred Plan Medicine by Stephen Harrod Buhner
The Golem by Gustav Meyrink
My friend The Oracle Portal recently did a book review of a book that I enjoyed a lot, you can check it out at the link below.
I hope to do more in depth book reviews in the future, but for now I can just share these as recommendations.
What have you been reading lately?
Dianna- Thanks for sharing this. I particularly love the sound of Julie Phillips' work. I'll definitely have to add this to my growing list of to-review. Hope you're well this week. Cheers, -Thalia
I appreciate the reminder to read when you want and not force it. I’ve had a time trying to finish books 📚 but if it’s audiobook or on my kindle I’m able to read them. It’s so interesting
